As wildfires burn through Southern California, destroying hundreds of homes and forcing almost 200,000 people in the Los Angeles and Ventura areas to evacuate, chef José Andrés expanded his humanitarian efforts once again to help feed those affected by the natural disaster.

After connecting with the Red Cross via Twitter, Andrés found a distribution center where his nonprofit, World Central Kitchen, plans to feed 2,000 people in the affected areas on Thursday.

Andrés was back on Twitter later that day looking for more volunteers to help prepare the meals.

Working with L.A. Kitchen, Andrés plans to serve at least a thousand more meals over the next few days.

Andrés is no stranger to helping feed those in need when natural disasters strike. World Central Kitchen served more than two million meals in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria hit the island this fall, and has provided relief for Haiti, Brazil, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Cambodia since Andrés founded the nonprofit in 2010.
