Stefanie Clark We're taking a little trip down memory lane to check out those fast foods that were just a flash in the pan, barely sticking around long enough for you to notice. Do you remember Sonic Pickle-O's? McDonald's version of spaghetti? Read on if you need your memory jarred.
2Burger King Burger Buddies
Mark ReinhartBurger Buddies were essentially sliders, intended to compete with White Castle's iconic burgers. They were sold as "Burger Bundles" and then resurrected as the "Burger Buddy," but the small patties reportedly slipped through the production broiler often. Earlier in 2011, however, the tiny burgers were re-introduced in beef and chicken patty varieties, but we wonder, even with an extra option, how long will this comeback last?

3Taco Bell's Bell Beefer
Flickr/Christianz1969While someone at Taco Bell was thinking "outside the bun," The Bell Beefer just didn't have staying power. Intended to be a competitor to other bun-centric fast foods, the Bell Beefer was more or less a Mexicanized version of a Sloppy Joe: taco meat, sauce, cheese, onions, and shredded lettuce on a plain hamburger bun. Taco Bell tried very hard to solidify this as one of their go-to items, but who among us would have ordered the Bell Beefer over one of their double-decker tacos?! Probably only the Bell Beefer cult enthusiasts.
4Friendly's Grilled Cheese Burger Melt
Stefanie Clark It seems that Friendly's doesn't quite live up to its name when it comes to taking your waistline into consideration. The Grilled Cheese Burger Melt, weighing in at 1,5000 calories, was comprised of a burger with mayo, lettuce, and tomato sandwiched in between two entire grilled cheese sandwiches. The Grilled Cheese Burger Melt was removed from the menu after a short run in 2010.

5Sonic Pickle-O's
Flickr/kd5fmuIn 2003, Sonic issued a press statement declaring that they would "delight billions of taste buds and millions of customers by bringing back [the] famous Pickle-O's." Originally introduced in 1968, Sonic's Pickle-O's were made from sliced dill pickles that were then breaded and cooked to a golden brown. They were certainly a unique idea, but, unfortunately, their customers didn't take to the reissue.
6Jack in the Box's Frings
Courtesy of Jack in the BoxJack in the Box came out in 1979 with "Frings" — a handy combo of, you guessed it, french fries and onion rings. Why did they flop? Sounds like an ingenious idea to us!

7McDonald's McSpaghetti
Conventional wisdom tells writers to write what they know. The same should apply to burger joints. So what was McDonald's thinking when they strayed from their mainstay menu and decided to try their hand at pasta? The McSpaghetti did gain some popularity in the Philippines, where it was sold as a main course or a side to fried chicken drumsticks, but we're betting it wasn't met with the same enthusiasm in Italy — and almost everywhere else, for that matter.
8McDonald's McAfrika
Nick GaurkeeThere's the kind of taste that one associates with enjoying a juicy cheeseburger — and then there's the kind of taste that McDonald's was lacking when it introduced the McAfrika in Europe in 2002 — as much of Southern Africa was experiencing a widespread famine. And though a beef patty with cheese and lettuce on pita bread sounds tasty enough, one has to wonder: What does pita bread have to do with Africa anyway?

9Mc DLT

before-he-was famous Jason Alexander? And the extra long, double-compartment container designed to "keep the hot side hot, and the cool side cool"? Introduced in 1984, the McDLT (Mc Donald's Lettuce and Tomato) was discontinued in the early 1990s due to concerns over its ecology-damaging Styrofoam container. The McDLT was reincarnated — already assembled — as the Big N' Tasty.
