Gordon Ramsay approved! Julia Child approved! Anthony Bourdain approved! Even the restaurant managers approve—did you know they make more money than pharmacists and architects?! Chef royalty and celebs alike proclaim their love for In-N-Out which begs the question, what’s its secret? How have they managed to maintain an empire for more than 70 years with just four items: burgers, fries, sodas and milkshakes?

A quick Google search will answer that for you: food is bomb, they treat their employees right, and the family owned fast food chain value quality over quantity. Being a Texas girl myself I never really understood the hype. I mainly came to In-N-Out for their chocolate shakes, fries and occasionally a burger with cheese. I am a creature of habit so I never ordered anything else off the menu. When I took on the challenge to eat everything off its menu in one sitting I quickly discovered I was missing out on their true gem, the DOUBLE DOUBLE. (This is why you need to try new things.) It may just be one extra patty from my usual order, but OH did it make a difference. If you aren't on the West coast, you can always make it at home thanks to our Delish test kitchen, btw.

Also a crowd pleaser, the Animal Style burger, this is what they are known for! (Which, again, you can make at home if you aren't a West coast-er.) The key difference is that they cook this patty with mustard on the grill, giving it an extra tangy flavor. It's crazy how one ingredient can make all the difference. How have I never ordered this before?! Shame on me. Long story short, I get the hype. Their employees are always happy giving the best service, the food is fresh and never frozen, and you can’t beat the price! Two dollars for a burger, SOLD!
