There are few other combinations as classic as wine and pasta. But what if you combine those two into one? Well, you get more wine but also a mashup that's better than a trip to Italy. So, that's exactly what Maiella did.
For all you vinos out they use a Sangiovese. When water is normally added to pasta dough, they add some red wine and water. It's cooked and sautéed with butter before being tossed in a cheese wheel. Then, a little shaved Parmesan, shaved truffle, and a drizzle of truffle oil later you have a next-level pasta dish.

But don't fill up on pasta because there's Nutella Pizza on the menu. A long flatbread is sliced and slathered with a ton of Nutella. You get a scoop of ice cream on top of EVERY single slice! Now, I'm still unsure of the best way to eat a slice. I tried biting into it like a regular pizza slice, but the ice cream was cold and made my teeth hurt. You could fold the pizza like a good New Yorker and if you get ice cream melted enough I think it could work. There's only one way to find out, though, and that's to test every single option.
Try it all at Maiella in Long Island City, NY.
