The number of restaurants in New York is legit insane—24,000, according to the New York City Health Department. Since it would take basically your whole life to try all of them, we’ve curated a list of six spots that stand out from your average burger joint or taco place. These restaurants (a combo of old and new) are must-tries this fall with menus that include great food backed by concepts that make the entire experience next-level.
1. Brooklyn Cider House
BCH is Brooklyn’s first cidery, with a menu boasting Basque-inspired dishes. Their motto is "Let The Good Times Flow” and they mean it: If you order from their prix-fixe menu you can actually go up to the giant barrels between courses and "catch" your own cider. It’s like a wine tasting but a bit messier and much more interactive.
2. The Classic Car Club
The CCC is a members-only club located in midtown on the Hudson River waterfront. Its menu is full of incredible dishes created by Chef Jesse Ford. Pro tip: Try the burger and tuna tartare! The meal is just the start, though—afterwards you can grab a drink, check out the cars on display, rent one out for a ride, or take a turn in their Formula1 Race Simulator. Talk about dinner and a show!
3. Pig Beach
No, not the spot where the Kardashians vacation. This is actually a unique restaurant in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn. With a lofty beer hall feel inside and picnic-bench style seating on their patio outside, this is the perfect spot to tailgate this fall. The menu lists hearty items from the smoker and grill, plus apps, desserts, and drinks, so prepare for an all day BK excursion!
4. Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain
Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain isn’t just a diner or ice cream shop, it's a step back in time. The space itself is a restored 1920s Brooklyn apothecary, now run as a "contemporary soda fountain." The menu is perfectly 'grammable, with many items that are like nothing you've ever tasted before. Take The Elvis, for example—It's a vanilla sundae topped with peanut butter, bacon bits, whipped cream, and a pickle! We're sold.
5. The Turk's Inn
There's a new vacation destination in Brooklyn: The Turks Inn, a two-story supper club. Not only is the decor and exterior eye-catching, but it's actually a 3-in-1 venue with a rooftop patio “The Kismet Garden,” a doner kebab takeout counter “Kebab Kiosk,” and an adjacent music venue “The Sultan Room.” Inspired by a now-closed supper club in the Midwest, the newly-opened spot is a can't-miss this fall.
6. Panna II
Panna II is a downtown NYC staple that opened in the 1980s. Their relatively cheap menu and lenient BYOB policy have been drawing locals, college students, and even celebrities for years. The 'grammable array of lights and holiday decor might look like a Party City threw up on the walls, but it's definitely a great spot to enjoy naan, curry, and a few (read: many) bottles of red wine this Fall. (Important note: It is cash only!)
