Walmart is truly a one-stop shop for all of your needs from groceries to the newest video game to new pairs of prescription glasses and so much more. Stepping into one of their stores (especially the Supercenter) can always feel a bit overwhelming. With so much happening, some of their great benefits and offers are often overlooked. From their in-house $5 wine to their new members program Walmart+ (which allows you to scan as you shop directly from the Walmart App!), shopping is more seamless than ever. Here are helpful tidbits, programs, and brands that you should know before your next shopping trip at Walmart.

1

Know what kind of Walmart you're in.

While a regular Walmart has everything from school supplies to electronics to Christmas lights, Walmart Supercenters have even more. When shopping at one of those, you’ll also be able to go to the deli and the bakery, get a full range of groceries, make a trip to the eye center and pharmacy, and fill up on gas.

Similar to Amazon Prime, Walmart+ is a new membership program that costs $98 a year (or $12.95 a month). While new benefits are slated to be added to this initiative, current offerings include unlimited free delivery, Scan & Go, and gas discounts. Scan & Go allows customers to scan items as they shop using the Walmart app creating a seamless, touch-free checkout.

The earlier your visit, the better.

If you want to maximize your time, go shopping at Walmart early in the morning between 7-11 a.m. Employees work overnight to restock and clean the store so an early shopping experience has fewer lines, more product, and an overall more seamless experience.

Walmart has a range of house wines under their very own label: Winemakers Selection. The best part? Each bottle is only $5, including whites (Chardonnay), reds (Cabernet Sauvignon), and, of course, a rosé.

If you can’t find something in-store, look online. With third-party vendors like Amazon, their website offers much more than what’s in their stores. Plus, with a generous return policy, it’s fairly easy to qualify for free shipping or in-store pickups.

Don’t underestimate Great Value Brand.

Instead of reaching for a name brand, try out products from Great Value Brand. Also, their Equate brand is often compared to Olay products—if you look at the ingredients they’re almost exactly the same!

Walmart has an entire program on their website for customers to trade in old and dated electronic devices in exchange for eGift cards. The different types of products range from cell phones, video games, tablets and game consoles. Once you accept the proposed price, you’ll receive a shipping label and, soon after, an eGift card!

10

The clearance section is underrated.

The clearance section at Walmart has some of its best finds, but they won’t last long. The day after Christmas, all of their decor (Christmas lights, faux Christmas trees, and the like) becomes heavily discounted, so get there early if you want to shop a wide selection.
