When you've just bought a bottle of wine, it's easy for your inner Veruca Salt to take over: You want it now. Not in the 2-3 hours it can take for it to cool in the fridge, an hour in the freezer, or even the 20 minutes it can take to soak a paper towel, wrap it around the bottle and put it in the freezer.

We're an instant-gratification society, after all—especially when it comes to poppin' bottles. News editor Rheanna Bellomo had a simple solution: Use frozen fruit. Many people already keep some in the freezer for smoothies, smoothie bowls (they're so hot, er, cool right now), and pies anyway. A few pieces of frozen fruit keeps your drink cool—perfect for slow sippers, who can nurse a drink over a few hours—without diluting it, like you would with ice cubes. Plus, you get a booze-infused snack when your glass is empty. Win!

We came up with this handy guide of the very best pairings to try:

Just about any sweet fruit will pair well with crisp white wine, while sweeter wines, like Riesling and some White Zinfandels, tend to pair well with tart berries and cherries (ditto for sparkling wines). But really, there are no hard-set rules here—mix and match, and find out what works for you.
