In Harper's BAZAAR's August cover story, Gigi Hadid gets real about the ways motherhood has changed her and shares her experiences navigating her life as a mom, girlfriend, and full-time model.

In between spending quarantine with her ever-growing family at her mother's farm home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Hadid particularly cherished outings alongside her boyfriend, Zayn, and their daughter, Khai—from hiking to exploring museums in New York. “She loves the birds, the animals,” Gigi tells BAZAAR. “It’s nice to be outside after a long winter.”

The model has also noticed Khai's adorable behaviors, from loving Arabic nursery rhymes, to getting excited by big dinosaur displays at museums, and even being mesmerized with jellyfish (after seeing one displayed the couple's TV screensaver), which, thanks to Zayn, inspired one of their trips. “Zayn had the idea, he’s like, ‘We should take her to the aquarium.’”

Hadid also opened up about her worries as a mother, revealing she experiences "anxieties and days where I felt like, ‘Am I good enough to be a mom?'" In such moments, she's learned to healthily cope by allowing herself to release her emotions via outlets such as journaling or art.

“I didn’t want to feel guilty about feeling those things or writing those things down. I just liked the separation," she shares. "I also have sketch pads where I’ll watercolor-sketch, and sometimes I end up writing there too. I write on the back of receipts and keep those in a notebook."

Hadid makes sure to keep a positive journal alongside it dedicated to her happier, warm-and-fuzzy moments. This crucial documentation is, in Gigi's words, "for the memories, for Khai."
