Sure, you’ll recognize the names (hi, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, Burger King, and Starbucks), but the way these brands have taken some, eh, shall we say, “creative liberties” when it comes to designing the locations below is truly next-level. These well-known chains have taken everything from vintage airplanes and old train cars to historic mansions and even shipping containers and converted ’em all into some of the coolest fast-food restaurants around the world. I mean, there’s even a fast-food restaurant that overlooks one of the greatest wonders on the planet! The sky is the limit! I’m hangry! So without further ado, here are 11 of the coolest fast-food restaurants in the world.
McDonald’s: Roswell, New Mexico
It makes sense that the HQ of Team I Believe in Aliens is home to a McDonald’s in the shape of a UFO. Only one question remains: Do aliens eat french fries?
Starbucks: Tukwila, Washington
This shipping container, er, Starbucks, which is actually made of four giant shipping containers, is designed to pay homage to the nearby Seattle shipyards.
Pizza Hut: Giza, Egypt
This Pizza Hut definitely reigns supreme for having the best view. The location sits right in Giza and features a rooftop view of the Great Pyramids. Yeah, NBD.
Taco Bell: Pacifica, California
Hi, yes, I’m obsessed with this ocean-view Taco Bell. The building looks like a weathered surf shack, and it’s perfectly located right on the beach…but get this, instead of having a drive-through window for cars, it’s got a walk-up window for surfers. Hang ten (Supreme Crunch Wraps), brah.
McDonald’s: New Hyde Park, New Jersey
Step inside this charming and beautiful house, and you’ll instantly forget you’re even in a McDonald’s. Historic 19th-century manor > a sticky ball pit and spooky clown. You go, Ronald McDonald!
KFC: Baku, Azerbaijan
What makes this KFC so special? Well, other than the fact that it’s built inside in a former 1920s train station, it also happens to be the largest KFC in the world, measuring over 1,700 square feet. See?? Special!!

No, that’s not a fine-art museum. This marvelous piece of architecture is actually a McDonald’s. Yeah, let that soak in. Located in Georgia (the country, not the state), this impressive glass structure with more than 450 glass panels was designed by architect Giorgi Khmaladze.

All aboard! Located along the historic Route 66, this McDonald’s lives inside converted passenger cars. So patrons can enjoy their Big Macs and Happy Meals in a former high-speed locomotive train…bringing a new meaning to the term “fast food,” amirite? Free dad joke with every happy meal, ya welcome.
Starbucks: Kyoto, Japan
Believe it or not, this is a Starbucks. Located in Kyoto, this Starbucks is housed inside an old Japanese townhome and features tatami mats for traditional Japanese seating.
Burger King: Helsinki, Finland
Indoor jungle gym? Yawn. A full-blown spa?? Weird flex but okay!! This Burger King in Finland features a 15-person shower, locker room, and media lounge. Because if you’re going to eat a Whopper, you might as well sweat it out afterward, right?
McDonald’s: Taupo, New Zealand
Okay, so this plane doesn’t actually fly anymore, but this vintage South Pacific Airlines giant metal bird was decommissioned and flipped into a McDonald’s in 1990. The main cabin has been converted into a 20-seat dining room and the cockpit is still in its original condition.
