This ingredient might just be the unsung hero of Meghan Markle's new cooking and lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan. It makes an appearance in almost every episode and is the finishing touch to dishes both sweet and savory. The best part? You can buy it on Amazon for less than $10. We're talking about edible flower sprinkles. (How very cottagecore of you, Meghan!)
Throughout the series, which landed on Netflix on March 4, the Duchess of Sussex sprinkles this colorful mix of edible flowers on donuts, crostini, a fruit platter, a frittata she makes for Mindy Kaling, cheese, avocado toast, and more. While she doesn't share her specific blend, the most common types of edible flowers included in these ready-made mixes are nasturtiums, marigold, butterfly pea, roses, pansies, calendula, and lavender. Pre-made blends ensure a variety of colors, but creating a custom ratio isn't that hard, especially if you've got a green thumb. "If you did have some flowers you're growing, you can just dry them," says Meghan. If you don't want to fuss with drying flowers, fresh-picked nasturtiums add easy color to any dish. You can also just buy food-grade edible flowers from your local farmer's market or on Amazon to craft your own blend.
Flower sprinkles were also included in the product launch of the Duchess's lifestyle brand, As Ever, for $15. However, it looks like the sprinkles, along with everything else, is already sold out, so off to Amazon we go!
Meghan's show chronicles her love of food and entertaining, which is centered around the idea that if you "surprise and delight" guests, they'll have a memorable evening. Elevating easy-to-make dishes with these simple but thoughtful touches is the ethos of Meghan's show, which has a total of eight episodes and includes a variety of celebrity guests, from actresses Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer to chef Roy Choi and entrepreneur Vicky Tsai, the founder of luxury skincare brand Tatcha. And yes, Prince Harry does make a cameo or two.
