If your fridge is stocked with ready-to-eat salad kits, you may want to take a close look at the container — especially if you deal with any food allergies or dietary restrictions. Little Leaf Farms, which sells packaged lettuce, lettuce blends and salad kits, announced a voluntary recall of certain Southwest Salad Kits over the weekend due to the potential presence of undeclared fish and wheat allergens. Anyone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat and/or fish can be at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Here's everything you need to know.
What product has been recalled?
The recall affects a specific lot of Little Leaf Farms Southwest Salad Kits. Over 500 individual clamshells have been affected, according to the FDA, though Little Leaf Farms has determined that fewer than 20 individual salad kits were incorrectly assembled. The recalled products may have been sold in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire at a number of retailers, including Ahold USA Freetown, Kilduff, Stew Leonard’s, Associated Grocers of New England, Shapiro Produce and C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc (Hatfield).

What is the exact reason for the recall?
After receiving a customer complaint noting incorrect ingredients in the container, Little Leaf Farms identified a manufacturing issue that affected one specific batch. The salad kits were incorrectly assembled and, therefore, may contain fish and wheat allergens.
Little Leaf Farms announced a recall and has advised retailers to remove the affected products from shelves and warehouses. No injuries or illnesses have been reported to date.
What should I do if I have the recalled product?
If you purchased a Little Leaf Farms Southwest Salad Kit that fits the recall description, you can return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. You can also contact Little Leaf Farms consumer relations at 1-844-545-5323 or email hello@littleleaffarms.com.
