If you use a rolling cooler, you’ll want to check the model. More than one million Igloo rolling coolers have been recalled, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

On February 13, the agency alerted consumers that the brand has received “12 reports of fingertip injuries, including fingertip amputations, bone fractures and lacerations” from their 90-quart rolling coolers. The culprit is the tow handle, which can “pinch fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards.”

Here's what to know.

List of models that have been recalled

The agency reports that the recall concerns Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers, which were sold at Costco, Target, Academy, Dick’s and other stores nationwide, and online at Amazon.com, Igloocoolers.com and other websites from January 2019 through January 2025.

How to find the model number on an Igloo cooler

According to Igloo, the model number has 5 digits and can be found on the label originally affixed to the bottom and side of the cooler — however, when handling the cooler to check the numbers, make sure to avoid putting your fingers near the pinch points in the tow handle.

What to do if you have an impacted model

Igloo is not issuing refunds for affected models. Instead, the company advises consumers to immediately stop using the cooler and register for a free tow replacement handle at the Igloo recall page. This is also where you can find a list of all recalled model numbers and descriptions, how to identify the date code, as well as photos of all models.
