It’s been a minute since Kylie Jenner made a public red carpet appearance, but she stepped out for the 2024 Met Gala—looking incredible and very comfortable in a white gown and matching jacket. Honestly, would go to sleep in that fabric, so seems right on the “Sleeping Beauties” theme to moi.
As a reminder: Last year, Kylie showed up in a red gown by Haider Ackermann for Jean Paul Gaultier and literally couldn’t sit down. Like, Haider literally said, “I would not like you to sit down. And I would not like you to move this arm.”
Normal!
Although Kylie’s most memorable look was probably her Off-White wedding dress, which she paired with a backward baseball hat. The choice was controversial, but Kylie explained that she was happy to honor late designer Virgil Abloh.
As she put it in a YouTube video, “The only reason I came to the Met this year, to be honest, I decided really last minute, I wasn’t gonna go. I was like, ‘Unless I can go and honor Virgil’ and [his wife] Shannon would want me to go and I would wear Off-White, then that’s the only reason I would go today. To honor him.”
“I feel like I was supposed to go with Off-White because Virgil and I talked about this for the last two years. I was supposed to go with him in 2020 so it feels right that my Met come back I'm going with Off-White for sure,” Kylie added. “It also puts off the pressure of what people think about my look because I love it so much. It’s so much more special to me that I don’t care what people think. It’s very special.”
