Looks like Al Roker just traded his signature fedora for a yellow hat that's taking over the Great White Way.

While the Today show star is famous for his role on the NBC morning show, he announced on Instagram that he recently made a move into the world of theater as a guest star in the popular Broadway show Gutenberg! The Musical.

The show frequently invites celebrities to join stars Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad on stage, and during the December 20 performance, Al got his chance to act alongside the hilarious duo as the show's "famous Broadway producer." Additionally, when he surprised the audience that night, he showed up wearing a bright-yellow cap that bared the title of his role.

"I had the best time last night on #broadway in my new job as a Famous Broadway Producer making dreams come true for @joshgad and @andrewrannells in @gutenbergbway," he affectionately captioned a video of his exciting cameo.

While Al was clearly excited to participate in this unique opportunity, he wasn't the only one elated about the role. Shortly after he uploaded the snippet, the news anchor's wife Deborah Roberts made sure to give him a shoutout. "You killed it!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ," she sweetly commented.

Just like Al and Deborah, the TV personality's followers were also ecstatic to see Al's guest appearance on Broadway. What's more, many couldn't help but declare how good he was in the role.

"Awesome," one person wrote on Instagram. "What fun!! For you AND the crowd! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘," another declared. "โค๏ธโค๏ธ the leg kick is my favorite part," a different follower added.

For those unfamiliar with the premise of Gutenberg! The Musical, the show follows friends Bud and Doug, who decide to stage a Broadway show together because they both love to perform. Since the show opened in mid-October, audiences have witnessed numerous celebrities step into the role of producer, including Lance Bass, Jake Gyllenhaal, Will Ferrell and even Broadway icon Lin-Manuel Miranda.

But this isn't the first time Al has appeared on Broadway. He actually made his theatrical debut back in October 2018 in the musical Waitress, playing diner owner Joe for a six-week stint. He later reprised the role in late 2019 with another short run as well.

We can't wait to see what Broadway show Al might pop up in next!
