Fixer Upper fans have something to look forward to this fall!
Following the success of Fixer Upper: The Castle, Chip and Joanna Gaines are taking on their next big project — and this time it’s a hotel!
Debuting this November on Magnolia Network and HBO Max, Fixer Upper: The Hotel will feature six half-hour episodes detailing the renovation (and transformation) process of a historic landmark into a boutique hotel, located (of course) in Waco, Texas.
The news was first hinted at in Variety’s November 2022 cover story, in which the pair revealed that they had a boutique hotel under construction, set to open in fall 2023. At the time, Joanna revealed to Variety, “This has been the biggest project of my life — the castle is second now — with four floors of restaurants and rooms and a whole ballroom. But both of these projects, the castle and the hotel, have really been led by the history of it, the design being driven by that more than, what do I want to do with it? It’s definitely been something that I’ve had to let the story lead that design. So it’s been a fun learning process for me where I feel like I get to show up and just be a student and get schooled for a second.”
Now, Fixer Upper fans are getting the full story.
“Y’all, we’re going to have a hotel in downtown Waco, Texas,” Chip quipped in the trailer of the show. Fans left comments like, "WOW!!!!! Is there anything they can’t do?" and "Yay, can’t wait! Miss seeing Jo and Chip doing their thing together ❤️"
Named after the year in which the Grand Karem Shrine building was built, Hotel 1928 will showcase four floors lined with 33 guest rooms, along with an expansive ballroom and three restaurants: a rooftop terrace, a ground-floor restaurant, and a café on the first level.
Looking to book immediately? Hotel 1928’s books will open in spring/summer 2023, with stays beginning in fall 2023. Additionally, the space will be available for weddings and events.
