It seems like almost every celebrity has their own line of wines or spirits these days. We're hard pressed to walk into a wine shop without spotting a famous name on at least one label. With all the star power behind these wine brands, we wanted to see how they stacked up so you know what to pick the next time you're looking for a celebrity-endorsed buzz.
For this taste test, we focused on celebrity rosé. We tasted rosés from a wide range of famous faces, from Post Malone to Brad Pitt, and rated each one on a scale of 1 to 5. Keep reading to see whose wine earned our top spot.
19 Crimes Cali Rosé - Snoop Dogg
2/5
Rapper Snoop Dogg partnered with 19 Crimes Wines for a line of wines. Their Cali Rosé is tinted a deep pink and is much darker than the other wines we tried. The wine is extremely fruit-forward with a candy-like sweetness. Our tasters compared this rosé to “raspberry peach Snapple,” “gummy bears,” and even “communion wine.” It tasted more like a wine cooler than a bottle we'd pop at a fancy dinner, but at only $13, it’s perfect for using in sangria, frosé, and, as one taster said, syrup for a “boozy snow cone.” (19 Crimes Snoop Dogg Cali Rosé, $13 at 19crimes.com)
Maison No. 9 Rosé - Post Malone
2.5/5
In the wise words of rapper Post Malone, "Rosé is for when you want to get a little fancy." His wine comes in a show-stopping bottle, and the glass cork adds an extra layer of sophistication. Maison No. 9 has a slight tang of pineapple, and a few of our tasters said they also picked up on notes of prickly pear. The aroma of the wine, however, divided us. The scent is noticeably funky. Some tasters didn't mind it, while others compared it to stinky cheese. If that's something you're into, we recommend pairing it with a plate of pasta piled high with Parmesan. Avaline Rosé - Cameron Diaz & Katherine Power
3/5
Cameron Diaz and entrepreneur Katherine Power teamed up to make Avaline, a wine brand with a commitment to transparency and using only organic grapes. According to our testers, Avaline's rosé has notes of melon and citrus zest. This wine is fairly “light” and “mild,” which some of us loved, while others found it “too watery.” In the words of one of our tasters: "I feel healthy drinking this." Three By Wade Rosé - Dwayne Wade
3/5
Dwayne Wade launched Wade Cellars in 2012, and in the past decade, they’ve expanded to seven different varietals. This was one of the rosés we were most excited to try. We found Three By Wade Rosé to have dominant notes of strawberries and melon; the finish, however, was jarring to many of our testers. The wine initially tasted slightly sweet, but veered into “almost medicinal” territory. Several of our tasters said they’d like to enjoy this wine with “chocolate to complement the bitterness.” (2021 Three By Wade Rosé by Wade Cellars, $15 at dwadecellars.com)
Hampton Water Rosé - Jon Bon Jovi
3/5
Hampton Water is Jon Bon Jovi's collaboration with his son Jesse and winemaker Gérard Bertrand. Their vision is to unite the laidback lifestyles of the Hamptons and the South of France, and the label reflects this relaxed vibe. Our tasters agreed that they would gravitate to this bottle “for the design alone.” This rosé is tart yet balanced. In the words of one taster, “I could see myself drinking this by the pool.” With notes of strawberry and citrus and a slight sweetness, we found this wine to be dangerously drinkable. Now we can get the taste of the Hamptons without having to sit in traffic. (2020 Hampton Water Rosé, $24.99 at FreshDirect)
LVE French Rosé - John Legend
3/5
Singer John Legend partnered with Raymond Vineyards in Napa Valley for his line of LVE wines. While the winery is based in the United States, LVE sources their grapes from the South of France. “This bottle looks so fancy!” said one of our tasters. There are notes of peach blossom, berries, and stone fruit, but no flavor dominates the other. We all think it's a super versatile, light wine that would pair well with any food and would be the fan-favorite at a party. It's the wine to drink when you want to "rosé all day." Studio by Miraval Rosé - Brad Pitt
3.5/5
Miraval is a certified organic vineyard that has been embroiled in legal controversy since Angelina Jolie's departure in 2021; her ex-husband Brad Pitt remains at the helm. Miraval's rosé uses a blend of grapes from Provence, France, with minimal intervention during the fermentation process. Our tasters picked up notes of white flowers and grapefruit, and we all agreed that this wine is “super refreshing.” Several of our tasters said they would “buy an entire case.” It also has the most subtle branding of all the bottles we tried. If you want to bring a celebrity wine to a party without people knowing it's a celebrity wine, pick up a bottle of Miraval. (Chateau Miraval Studio By Miraval, $15.49 at Total Wine)
Invivo x SJP Rosé - Sarah Jessica Parker
4/5
Leave it to Sarah Jessica Parker to make our favorite wine of the bunch. This rosé won our taste test by a landslide with its light and crisp flavor. We picked up on notes of citrus and apple, but a lot of our testers also noted a floral aroma. It struck the ideal balance of sweet and dry, and fits the brief of how a good rosé should taste. Our tasters also agreed that this rosé is begging to be served with seafood. We'd gladly enjoy this wine “year round,” but it would be best on a hot summer day.
