Today is one of roughly five days a year where you can basically assume every famous person you care about is in the same room, and that's because it is Met Gala Monday. The stars are hanging out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to raise funds for the museum's costume institute, and they're looking great doing it. One of the usual attendees is Kim Kardashian, obviously. She came and she surely delivered.
Kim hasn't yet hit the carpet but Vogue leaked her look (oops). She debuting blonde hair and serving us a stunning iridescent moment.
You might remember Kim's Balenciaga Met Gala look from last year, which was fairly divisive because you, uh, couldn't see her face. You know, the look that became a meme?
She told Vogue in March that she actually fought against covering her face, though. “I fought against it. I was like, I don’t know how I could wear the mask. Why would I want to cover my face?” she said. “But Demna [Gvasalia, Balenciaga’s creative director] and the team were like, This is a costume gala. This is not a Vanity Fair party where everyone looks beautiful. There’s a theme and you have to wear the mask. That is the look.”
A mask being "the look" feels very spot-on for 2021, TBH. And just for fun, here's a flashback to what Kim wore at her very first Met Gala in 2015.
