Martha Stewart made headlines in July 2020 when she shared a total poolside thirst trap selfie. Now, she’s opening up about how she got that glowing skin.
Martha just dropped a video on TikTok and Instagram breaking down her go-tos. For the record, it’s definitely spon-con for beauty brand Clé de Peau, but she does share some insight on how she got such a great pic.
“Remember my iconic thirst trap? I’m finally revealing how I create the perfect selfie,” the 80-year-old wrote in the caption. In the video, the home guru first shared that it’s important to “project fabulous” when you’re taking a selfie. Noted!
Then, she said dabs on concealer to smooth out her skin, followed by a “touch of gloss” on her lips to get that perfect pout.
People were all over it in the comments. “The most iconic thirst trap on the internet,” one person wrote. “WE ARE NOT WORTHY!!! 🙌🏼” another said.
While Martha’s post was a (hilarious) ad, she’s also dropped more skincare nuggets over the years. Martha previously shared on her website that she loves Mario Badescu and uses several products from the skincare line during the day.
Martha likes to get up at 5 a.m. and kicks off her skincare routine ASAP, puting on a face mask for 30 minutes. She alternates between Yon-Ka Gommage 305, Susan Ciminelli’s Hydrating Gel Mask, and Mario Badescu’s Super Collagen Mask.
Martha follows that up with a steamy shower, where she’ll wash her face with Chanel La Blanc Fresh Brightening Foam Cleanser or Mario Badescu A.H.A. Botanical Body Soap. After that, Martha spritzes on a toner, followed by a serum, like SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum or BioEffect EGF Day Serum.
For sunscreen, Martha relies on SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50 and she layers Cle de Peau Beaute Massage Cream on top.
She cleanses at the end of the day with Susan Ciminelli's Algae Deep Cleanse or Chanel's "Sublimage" Essential Comfort Cleanser. That's followed by one of her daytime serums and a moisturizer like Yon-Ka Pamplemousse Vitalizing Cream or Mario Badescu's Revitalin Moisturizer.
Martha’s dermatologist Dhaval G. Bhanusali of Hudson Dermatology & Laser Surgery, told Elle that they worked together to specially formulate a serum that slows down collagen breakdown without making her skin sensitive to the sun.
“Over the last year or so, she uses our serum every morning, a calming mist throughout the day, and a rich CBD night cream in the evening,” he said.
Bhanusali also credits Martha’s great skin to her positive attitude.
“Martha is a great example of someone who lives life to the fullest and really shows us all that age is just a number,” he said. “She eats incredibly healthy, starts every morning with a green juice and she’s more active than anyone I know.”
And here you have it.
