Shawn Mendes has broken his silence since his split with Camila Cabello... well, sort of. The "Wonder" hitmaker took to Instagram on November 3o to announce that new music is coming.
The post teases a new song that Shawn is releasing on December 1. There's no telling whether the song is titled "It'll Be Okay" or if that's just a mantra or a lyric that Shawn wants to share. This marks Shawn's first musical release since he and Camila called it quits earlier this month, and based on the 12-second snippet alone, it sounds like he may be looking forward to more positive times after the heartbreak.
"Are we gonna make it? / Is this gonna hurt?" Shawn asks in the song. It's likely that the song may have been written when his romance with Camila was starting to fizzle out.
Camila has yet to speak up after they made a joint statement regarding their breakup, but Shawn opened up about quarantining with his ex-love in Miami during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I often go back to look at photos and the simplicity of that time, we were lucky. It was nice. We were making dinner, just doing normal things," Shawn told Rollacoaster Magazine. "The Latin culture is also just so beautiful, so being able to immerse myself in that culture is always really healing."
The exact reason why Shawn and Camila broke up is unclear at this time, but maybe "It'll Be Okay" will give some insight into what happened between them.
