- The beloved Netflix series Grace and Frankie starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin just wrapped filming on its seventh and final season.
- The cast and crew shared their gratitude and photos on Instagram to mark the end of filming.
- Netflix plans to release the last episodes in early 2022.
When the surprise release of the first four episodes of Grace and Frankie season seven dropped back in August, we stopped everything we were doing to binge-watch.
After the heartwarming and hilarious Netflix show announced a pause to filming due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was nothing we wanted more than to watch stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin’s iconic friendship again on screen. But with only four episodes to hold us over, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the rest of the final season. And the time for us to say goodbye (likely to be a tearful one at that!) is coming closer—the cast and crew just finished filming season seven and let the world know how they feel about the end of the show.
Actress Brooklyn Decker, who plays Mallory Hanson, posted multiple photos to her Instagram account, sharing memories with Grace and Frankie co-stars and behind-the-scenes snaps of the final days of shooting. “Wrap week with some of the best humans I’ve ever had the privilege of working with,” she captioned the photos.
Just a few days earlier, Decker posted a shot of the full main cast on the beach, including Fonda and Tomlin, announcing the official end to filming. “And just like that, it’s over. I walk away with so much love and gratitude for the folks in this photo and hundreds more behind the scenes who made my experience one of complete joy. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” she captioned the snapshot.
Decker’s on-screen sister, June Diane Raphael, who plays Brianna Hanson, posted a selfie to Instagram sharing her thoughts on wrapping the series. “Today was my last day on the set of Grace and Frankie. I will be forever grateful for the last seven years I’ve spent with the most wonderful cast and crew. Oh how I’ve loved working on this show,” she captioned the photo.
Raphael’s on-screen love interest, Peter Cambor, who plays Barry, posted a cute selfie in front of his trailer on the final day of filming. “Oh, Grace and Frankie. Such an incredible journey that I will always remember and hold close to my heart. I’m so lucky to have worked with such an incredible cast and crew for seven years. I feel very fortunate to have been a small part of this story,” he captioned the photo.
Actress Linsey Kraft, who plays Allison, has shared a series of photos over the last week honoring co-stars and the Netflix show. In one snap of Kraft hugging actor Sam Waterston, who plays Sol Bergstein, she wrote, “To know him is to love him. Thank you Sam for being the brightest light there is. Lucky to work with you all these years.”
And in her final post announcing the end of filming, Kraft shared a photo of herself with Decker, Raphael, and actress Christine Woods, who plays Jessica. “Some girls of Grace and Frankie. Loved working with these strong, gorgeous, brilliant women who taught me a lot. We laughed real good, and I thank them,” she captioned the photo.
The two leading ladies (Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin) have yet to post to social media regarding the final filming days. But, production designer Devorah Herbert did post three adorable photos to her Instagram account, some featuring the two standout stars, thanking others on set for making the show so fantastic.
“Well folks, that’s a wrap on the final episode of Grace and Frankie. Seven seasons! So many memories, so many laughs, so many babies (28!), so many brilliant performances, brilliant scripts, and brilliant colleagues. We ended as we began, with laughter, with tears, with paintings, with cake, and with yet another awe-inspiring performance by our leading ladies,” she captioned the photos.
Costume Designer Allyson Fanger posted a series of photos to her Instagram with Grace and Frankie stars and memories from the show, including snaps of the iconic same-sex cake topper and Frankie’s creative artwork.
“Such a delay due to emotions. Still not perfect but, here it is. The final day dump,” she captioned the photos.
Netflix plans to release the final episodes of Grace and Frankie in early 2022, but if you’re as sad as we are to see the end of such a fantastic show–don’t worry! We hear rumors that Fonda and Tomlin have plans to work on a movie after Grace and Frankie, so it won’t be the end for our favorite duo.
