Stranger Things season four is well underway after the coronavirus pandemic caused it to pause production shortly after starting. But it looks like the show's small break actually helped in the long run.
In a new interview with Collider, producer Shawn Levy revealed that the show's writing team was able to finish writing up the season before filming continued, making it the first time the scripts were finished before filming. While the pause also means that it'll take a bit longer for the show to come back, this will still work out in the show's favor.
"I’ll just say the pandemic definitely massively delayed shooting and therefore the launch of our current Season 4, date still TBD. But it impacted very positively by allowing the Duffer brothers, for the first time ever, to write the entire season before we shoot it and to have time to rewrite in a way that they rarely had before so the quality of these screenplays are exceptional, maybe better than ever," he said.
The Stranger Things writers previously posted a photo of a stack of the season's scripts, showing that they were competed on June 18.
They've also been posting updates from filming, which recently restarted with the cast and crew taking precautions due to the ongoing pandemic.
While not much about the season has been revealed just yet, it will certainly be interesting to see what happens next to our favorite group of Demogorgan fighting friends.
