- A Voice fan tweeted at Blake Shelton about one of his favorite phrases.
- The "Jesus Got a Tight Grip" singer's response had his followers buzzing.
Blake Shelton is cool about a lot of things. It’s not uncommon for The Voice coach to make a shocking joke, or allow others to make one at his expense. But what he will not stand for is when people come for his southern vernacular.
A fan recently tweeted at Blake with a complaint about one of his signature phrases. “Someone please tell [Blake] to stop saying ‘sis,’” The Voice fan wrote.
Blake, who has gotten in a little hot water for tweeting to fans before, responded with a funny, but still sassy, response. “I have received your complaint and I am now digging in to my habitual vocabulary to remove it,” he said. “But this could take awhile sis…”
Nearly 2,000 people replied to the thread, many of which were loyal Blake supporters rallying for him to ignore the viewer’s request. “Sis is perfect and so are you!” one said. Another added, “It’s an endearing term in the south, Don’t you dare quit saying it Blake!”
Many tweeted at the fan herself, prompting her to issue a follow-up statement. “It was a joke I love Blake, calm down,” she wrote.
We all know Blake loves a good funny, so he was quick to clear the air. “Whew,” he wrote. “Now we can be friends again!!!! I love you too sis!!!”
To summarize: “Sis” and Blake’s sense of humor are here to stay. And we wouldn’t have it any other way!
