Oreo issued a question a few weeks ago that has been gripping the nation: What is the flavor of the Mystery Oreo? With $50,00 on the line for a correct guess, it seems like everyone is shooting their shot at Oreo glory. This is includes Chrissy Teigen, who went to great lengths for cookie research this week.
Chrissy said she devoured an entire box of Mystery Oreos all in the name of research after Oreo sent her an "escape room-like mystery package" of them. From the sounds of it, this quest was pretty intense and the ending apparently involved calling a pastry chef named Chris Saunt...get it? Like croissant. He didn't answer which is kinda rude TBH!
But if we know Chrissy (which, yes I do, I follow her on Twitter and cook from her cookbooks, so we're obvi best friends) she was, as always up to the challenge, and took her food research very seriously.
"Imagine eating 30 Oreos, slowly swishing them around your mouth. Reading a 'found' grocery list. Calling mystery phone numbers. Reading a map. For hours. Then u read the Chris Saunt business card," she tweeted.
All this work paid off, because she came away with a few very educated guesses on what the flavor could possibly be. Chrissy has a hunch that the filling is somewhere in the cinnamon or butter family, which would be very trendy for the fall season.
"I believe we are either working with French toast or Cinnamon Toast Crunch here. It’s very buttery. It is an excellent cookie. I need another box to confirm," Chrissy tweeted.
With all the info I have (though I, too, would need a box to confirm) I'm going to wager that this cookie could possible be...croissant-flavored? Chris Saunt (or Chrissy!), feel free to call me and confirm.
