Meghan Markle and Prince Harry just had their baby!!! They welcomed a boy this morning, and let's just say the royal family is THRILLED about it. Kate Middleton and Prince William just released a statement congratulating the couple on the birth.
"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellows, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news."
"The Duchess' mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore cottage."
Okay, while this might not seem like the warmest or fuzziest announcement in baby history, it's probably fair to remember that the royal family is very formal when it comes to this stuff. For example, back in 2018 when Prince Louis was born, Kensington Palace put out this statement.
And they grouped a bunch of family members together and said they were all "delighted" with the news. That included Prince Harry, and because he and Meghan weren't married yet, she was grouped into "other members of the family."
So this is a fairly standard way of saying "congrats" when it comes to a press release.
