Some people think that the sweet potato casserole, the creamy mashed potatoes and gravy, and the turkey are the real stars of Thanksgiving. Us? Well, we’re all about the dessert, and specifically the PIE. You’ve gotta have the classics (like pecan and pumpkin), of course, but there are so many more options (and variations) out there. Thanksgiving should be personal, not prescribed, so feel free to serve whatever you like. Check out our 55 Thanksgiving pies for ideas—you just might find a new holiday favorite among them.

Since these are Thanksgiving-specific pies, we’ve gotta mention the quintessential ones—pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, pecan pie, and apple pie. They’re classics for a reason, and we really think our recipes for them are the best. If you’re sick of the same-old or just want to shake things up, try one of our twists on them instead. Add caramel to your apple or pumpkin pie; combine two of them together into something entirely new, like in our pumpkin pecan pie or our ; or make them in a novel way, like our sheet pan pumpkin pie or our apple hand pies. These are sure to please even the most die-hard fans of the classics while still feeling innovative.

Love pie but not a fan of the typical Thanksgiving faves? It’s your day, so make whatever you crave! Chocolate lovers should try our chocolate pudding pie, our Mississippi mud pie, or our Mexican hot chocolate pie (it’s got a nice spicy kick). Fruit fans can try our cranberry pie (it’s the most beautiful hot pink), our pear pie, our lemon meringue pie, or our coconut cream pie. Bonus: These pies will add some much needed color to your Thanksgiving table.

No matter what type of pie you go with, utilize our tips and tricks to guarantee it turns out its best. Check out our best pie crust, gluten-free pie crust, and graham cracker crust recipes, then watch our guides on how to crimp the edges of and blind bake them. Once you’ve got that down, don’t forget the homemade whipped cream. It’ll take your bakes from good to GREAT.
