If you're part of the roughly everybody—or, okay, 37 percent of people—who resolves to get healthier in the new year, you deserve at least partial credit for serving these Bloody Mary Shooters. Each one may not count as a serving of vegetables, but they're low in sugar and have some vitamins and nutrients.
Plus, they're shot-glass sized, so you're exercising portion control. See how easy it is to justify just about anything?
Resolution or not, though, these Bloody Mary Shooters are a fun way to kick off any boozy brunch. The core recipe is just four ingredients, and you don't need a cocktail shaker or any fancy equipment to play home mixologist. (Seriously—we used an oversized mason jar and a wooden spoon.)
The paprika-salt rim on each shot glass is crucial. It adds a little smokiness to the drink, and makes the shots look fancier. If you're not a fan of paprika—or don't want to buy a spice just for a round of shots—you could stick with a regular salt rim, or go for a combination of salt and pepper, cayenne pepper and salt, or celery salt.
The garnish can vary, too: If you're feeling indulgent, you could let people swirl their shots with a strip of bacon. Or top it with sautéed baby shrimp. Or a chicken nugget, in homage to the Milwaukee restaurant that tops theirs with an entire fried bird.
No matter what you choose, it will probably go great with any of these 50 most delish brunch recipes. Especially this Eggs Benedict Skillet Bake.
