If you’re anything like me, no matter how much sleep you get, it’s still difficult to not snooze the alarm at least twice (okay, maybe three times) in the morning. While a cup of coffee is a necessity to give me a morning boost, there’s one thing that is guaranteed to provide the lasting energy I need: a filling, energizing breakfast. While I love a classic bagel or cinnamon roll, when I need to stay awake throughout the day, there are certain recipes I turn to with ingredients that are guaranteed to give me an energy boost.

There are many dietitian-approved ingredients that will not only help you keep up your energy throughout the day, but can also provide other nutritional benefits. I’ve included some of our favorite, most Delish breakfast recipes that highlight these stamina-boosting ingredients, including but not limited to: bananas, sweet potatoes, eggs, oats, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, avocado, and MORE. Enjoy them all year long, or anytime you find yourself dragging yourself out of bed.

When it comes to easy, nutritious, make-ahead breakfasts, overnight oats always deliver. Then blended overnight oats started to pop up on our TikTok feeds, and we needed to see if they lived up to the hype. And did they ever! Blending the ingredients together gives the finished recipe a thick, almost pudding-like texture. Sliced bananas, crunchy peanuts, cacao nibs, and more honey complete this magical breakfast moment.

If you're a savory breakfast fanatic, then you're probably familiar with a huevos rancheros-style meal: refried beans on lightly crisp tortillas, fried eggs, salsa, and cotija. It’s originally a simple protein-and carb-based breakfast for farmers, hence the name “huevos rancheros.” We love finding ways to play with this classic breakfast (like in our casserole version), and our new obsession is this breakfast bowl version, packed with nutritious diced sweet potato.
