Anna Camp doesn't do anything halfway. When she sings, she belts out tunes like her life depends on it — because, at least in the upcoming Pitch Perfect movie, it does. When she goes caroling, she brings Captain Morgan (as in the Captain Morgan) and an entire chorus with her, surprising people on the streets of New York. And when she makes her go-to holiday dessert, it basically combines all of your guilty pleasures into one pan.
After a morning spent caroling in Central Park and surprising firefighters downtown, we caught up with Camp for our new show The Mash-Up where between making pina colada banana bread, talked all things holiday — and were blown away by her go-to treat.
"My bread pudding, which people tend to really like around the holiday season, is half Krispy Kreme donuts, half Challah bread, then egg, cream, vanilla extract, and cinnamon, and you bake it in the oven, for like 25 minutes," she explained.
But wait, that's not all. "Then you break up chocolate bars halfway through — Hershey's dark chocolate — and stick it on top, then you take it out and you pour Godiva liqueur all over it," she added. "Then you put rum raisin ice cream on top, and it's the best!"
If the mere description has turned you into the living (and less hairy) embodiment of the heavy breathing cat meme, you're not alone. Camp's the first to admit, though, that this concoction wasn't entirely her doing; it's inspired by a recipe from the queen of butter herself, Paula Deen.
"It's kind of a spin on her recipe from years ago," she explained. "Now it's become something I can't do all the time, because it's really not healthy, but I break it out every once in a while for a party or special occasion."
Camp didn't share her exact recipe, but if you want to create your own riff on the actress's inspo, you can find Deen's original recipe (which calls for a can of sweetened condensed milk and two cans of fruit cocktail) here.
