If you're anything like us—we dip into our stash of boxed mac and cheese more often than we'd probably care to admit—it's time to check the pantry. Kraft announced yesterday that the company is recalling 242,000 cases (that's an estimated 6.5 million boxes) of it's iconic Macaroni & Cheese.

The boxes in question could contain small pieces of metal. The tainted macaroni was unfortunately only discovered after eight customers placed complaints to Kraft.

"We believe a piece of stainless steel got wedged in a metal piece of equipment, which may have generated friction that resulted in small pieces of metal potentially falling into the product," Kraft spokeswoman Joyce Hodel explained in a statement.

Check for 7.25-ounces boxes of Kraft's "original" flavor macaroni and cheese. The recalled "best when used by" dates range from September 18, 2015 through October 11, 2015 and a code that reads, "C2."

The cases were shipped to retailers throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and countries in the Caribbean and South America. If you have one of the affected boxes, return it to the store for an exchange or refund.
