While we're all for inventiveness, here's an example of one Japanese restaurant chain taking the whole food hybrid craze way, way, too far.

Japanese chain Osaka Ohsho asked its employees to come up with creative new menu items, and one, in all his modernist cuisine glory, thought to stuff the ramen noodles intothe doughnut, thus combining the deliciousness of savory, slippery noodles with the soft, fried pastry. But that's not even the craziest part: The eatery liked the idea so much that the ramen doughnuts will be available through the end of the month for curious and daring customers to try.

What do you think: Are these new hybrid creations (not to be confused with the more obviously palatable ramen burger) the next big thing to cross the Pacific and come to America, or has Osaka Ohsho crossed the line from ingenious to downright gross?
