Salty and sweet is a classic, craving-worthy combination. Instead of having to buy two separate snacks and then eat them handful for handful to get both flavor profiles, big name brands like Lay's and Snyder's are now making the hybrid mixtures for you.
According to USA Today, Lay's just debuted the first-ever mainstream version of chocolate-covered potato chips. Lay's Wavy Potato Chips Dipped in Milk Chocolate feature the classic salty chips with a layer of sweet milk chocolate. For now the new snack will only be available at Target through the holidays. But if the new product is a hit then fans can expect a more lasting nationwide rollout.
Also attempting to answer to consumer's taste for salty-and-sweet hybrid snacks is pretzel company Snyder's. Chocolate-covered pretzels have long been a favorite salty-sweet snack, but now the brand is taking the idea a step further. They are re-launching their Pretzel Dips nationwide for a limited time (also through the holidays). Flavors include: Milk Chocolate Dips, White Crème Dips, and Special Dark Dips. Even more enticing are the sandwich dips, which feature peanut butter or peppermint filling sandwiched between two pretzels and then dipped in chocolate. Snyder's has teamed up with Hershey's chocolate for the fusion snack. Delish got to sample all of the bites. Conclusion: perhaps for an afternoon salty-sweet craving, or even to dump in a bowl for your holiday party.
