According to Eater, once Batali learned the news that his beloved orange footwear might not always be available, he ordered 200 pairs. The Bistro Mario Batali shoe (Batali lent his name to the line in 2007) was designed by Crocs specifically for restaurant and food industry professionals. At the time the shoe company announced their partnership with a press release stating that "Mario has been a long-time fan and visible support of Crocs shoes." The chef already owned 50 pairs of their signature orange Beach model, but was thrilled to get behind the variation of the shoe that was meant for the kitchen.

News of the discontinuation hit Batali hard. "They're gonna stop the Mario Batali orange!" he told Details. The chef's shipment of new Crocs will join the 30 pairs he already owns. "They made a special run for me before they retired the color."

Do you think it's time for Batali to find a new color? Or should he find another vendor?
