Your morning coffee is an essential part of your routine. We understand — your brain just isn't fully awake until that first sip. But USA Today is forcing us to take a good, hard look at just how much these daily cups cost us with its coffee cost calculator.
Simply enter in the number of cups you buy from Starbucks or make at home each, and it will tell you an estimated figure of the dollars you spend annually on that caffeine fix. While the figure will probably surprise you, the article continues to up the shock value by highlighting some of the things you could buy yourself with the dollars you spend on those many cups of joe.
Just 143 days of Starbucks-free living will afford you the monies to buy a new iPad mini; if you can make it 10,679 days sans java (okay, fine, that's over 29 years), you could afford a shiny new Toyota Camry. It may not be entirely realistic, but it's certainly a wake-up call of a different sort.
Would you sacrifice your AM pick-me-up to save some funds?
