Update: Taco Bell has just announced that the new flavor of Doritos Locos Tacos, set to launch on August 22, is called "Fiery." A Taco Bell representative confirmed that this is not in fact a current flavor of Doritos, however the outer chip shell is being advertised with the text, "fire and lime." It is unclear whether or not Doritos will make a new flavor of chip that coincides with the taco. Taco Bell is encouraging fans of the DLT to check social media sites before the 22nd for special opportunities to get an early taste.
Taste Test: New Mystery-Flavored Doritos Locos Taco
After much anticipation and speculation, we finally got to try the new Doritos Locos Taco flavor. The entire Doritos Locos Taco suite of products, which revitalized the Taco Bell brand, has led to 15,000 new jobs and over 500 million sales so far.
Taco Bell dropped off six of the latest flavor, which has been kept a secret. While the type of Doritos that make up the shell still hasn't officially been announced, we were pretty certain that it was the Flamas Doritos after taking a bite.
However, Taco Bell recently Tweeted "Guess again" at the Huffington Post after they declared with "97 percent" certainty that the new flavor was Flamas. This turn of events has us completely confused. We have to agree with Huffington Post writer Joe Satran's new guess that the company may have created a whole new flavor for the latest DLT.
What's the verdict on the new DLT? One taster called them "bangin'" while another said that he, "can't tell if I'm eating Doritos or a taco," which is probably exactly what Taco Bell is striving for. If you want to taste the new Doritos Locos Taco, they will make a first appearance on the Taco Bell menu August 22. Until then we'll just have to keep guessing...
