Step, er, ski right up! Yes, Starbucks has opened its first ski-in, ski-out coffee outpost on a mountain in Squaw Valley, California. Many skiers were thrilled, not just because they can grab that signature espresso on the slopes, but also because it is the world's first Starbucks at an altitude of 8,000 feet.

Like a mini drive-thru, snowboarders and skiers can glide right in and place their orders at the window. But if the snow enthusiasts want to take a little break and sit down, there is a regular entrance that can be accessed through the Gold Coast mid-mountain complex.

While the coffee behemoth's new location is the only one in its empire to reign on the slopes, it's not the only ski-thru spot offering speedy eats.

In 1996, McDonald's opened the first fast-food ski-thru location — also known as McSki — at Lindvallen resort in Sweden, where burger-addicted fans could just grab their happy meals and go.

Those in the Northeast know where to find waffles without having to unbuckle their boots. The Waffle Cabin, which has locations on mountains in Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, and Massachusetts, serves up hot, fresh waffles dusted with sugar made from beets, all straight from a log cabin.
