When cooking up a storm in the kitchen (or, you know, boiling water for that macaroni and cheese), there always seems to be a totally predictable problem with the pot lid. Where do you put it? How do you prevent the condensation from dripping onto the countertop and creating a mess?

Now, a product currently looking for funding on Kickstarter is attempting to solve this age-old issue. Introducing Trivae, the adjustable plate-stand-meets-lid-holder-meets-trivet that serves three unique purposes.

This relatively low-tech kitchen gadget features two horseshoe-shaped rings connected with an changeable "spine," which allows it to lie flat to hold things like hot casserole dishes, stand up tall to display a particularly beautiful baked good you created, or twist up vertically to provide a place for that pot lid while cooking. According to cNet, by sliding a hot lid onto the top U-shaped ring, the Trivae supposedly allows you to rest the lid upside down (read: no water dripping onto your kitchen surfaces) while still enabling you to easily grab the cool-to-the-touch handle underneath when you are ready to use it again.
