Lucky Charms was first introduced in 1964, and soon gained popularity for its crunchy toasted oats and fun-shaped marshmallows. The addition of the pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, and green clovers made it the first cereal to ever contain marshmallows. It wasn't until 1975 that a new flavor of marshmallow, blue diamonds, was introduced. Over the years, General Mills added an array of colors and shapes, including purple horseshoes and green leprechaun hats.

In line with its history of marshmallow makeovers, the "magically delicious" cereal is getting gussied up for its big birthday. Beginning this month, General Mills will release a limited-edition 50th Anniversary St. Patrick's Day-themed cereal containing all green marshmallow clovers. The product is available at grocery stores nationwide, while supplies last.
