Coke is changing the way it does diet soft drinks with the introduction of Coca-Cola Life™ made with stevia and bottled with a green label versus the company's trademark red. Stevia is a natural sweetener made from the South American Stevia Rebaudiana plant with zero calories and carbs.
The drink was first tested in Chile and Argentina last year and will be released in Great Britain this fall. This is the first time that stevia leaf extract has been used in a Coke product and the drink is intended to cater to those looking for a natural sweetener in their soft drink. Although the naturally-sourced sweetener has been around for over 100 years, stevia recently became infamous as the vessel to carry ricin, a highly toxic poison used to kill, in the brilliant TV series Breaking Bad. The new Coca-Cola will have one third less calories and sugar than regular Coke.
Are you going to try Coca-Cola life when it comes to North America?
