Sneak Peek

Your favorite Girl Scout cookies, including Samoas, Thin Mints, and Shortbread, are getting a makeover during San Diego Restaurant Week. Chefs from some of the participating restaurants have incorporated these beloved sweets into innovative recipes created especially for Restaurant Week.

Details and Highlights

When it comes to Girl Scout cookies, people of all ages — even chefs and cooking connoisseurs — have their preference, whether it's Thin Mints and Tagalongs straight from the freezer or Shortbread cookies with their morning mug of tea. This year, restaurant patrons in the San Diego area can experience the classic cookies morphed into creative dishes by celebrated area chefs, including Brain Malarkey, former cheftestant on Bravo's Top Chef and executive chef of Oceanaire Seafood Room.

The timing of San Diego Restaurant Week made it the perfect forum to showcase everyone's favorite boxed confections and kick-start Girl Scout cookie-selling season, which begins January 31. All proceeds from cookie sales benefit local troops by funding programs, camps, and training sessions for girls.

San Diego Restaurant Week is in its fifth year. From January 11-16, 2009, and September 13-18, 2009, diners can enjoy three-course prix fixe menus at more than 150 participating restaurants. Prices range from $20 to $40 a person. Reservations are strongly recommended.
