Oreos have arguably stood the test of time for their simplicity. Who doesn't love a chocolate cookie with a bit of sweet creme filling? The iconic cookie is the star ingredient in dozens of Delish recipes, from Oreo truffles to deep-fried Oreos and classic icebox cake layered with dozens of chocolate creme-filled cookies. While there are now options ranging from Double Stuf to Golden, the tried and true cookie still has the same structure everyone can identify: two wafers sandwiching a creamy filling. But to shake things up, the brand occasionally introduces wildly new flavors. Something like Pumpkin Spice Oreos are expected, but the Wasabi Oreo wasn't something we had on our bingo card.

Here, we've rounded up 30 of the craziest Oreo flavors ever. Some were limited editions or only available in certain markets, while others might still appear on shelves. Some should make a return ASAP, while others are best left in the archives.

Fruit Punch

Only the Kool-Aid Man would bust through walls and shout "oh yeeaaaaah" over this one. Most of us were left scratching our heads at these vanilla cookies with fruit punch-flavored creme, which was exclusively sold a few summers ago.

Now, this is a serious feat of cookie engineering. The limited edition Banana Split Oreos were just what you expected: one vanilla cookie, one chocolate, and a filling that's half strawberry-flavored and half banana.

Back in 2008, Oreo sold Strawberry Milkshake-flavored Oreos. This version, released in 2011, seems like a very subtle twist on the flavor, but it ushered in a wave of fruity Oreo flavors over the next few years.

Creamsicle

The same summer Oreo said, "Hey, guys, these Berry Burst Ice Cream Oreos are kind of just like Strawberry Milkshake Oreos—but better," it also debuted Creamsicle Oreos, which featured vanilla cookies and a half-orange, half-vanilla filling.

In 2012, Oreo got everyone thinking about Halloween a little early, debuting these vanilla Oreos with Candy Corn-flavored creme filling just after Labor Day.

Brownie Batter

We've been dipping Oreos in chocolate for years, but this chocolatey flavor, released in 2015, took the cookie to a whole new level of decadence—and made us wonder why we've been using a spatula to get that last smidge of brownie batter out of the bowl. We could've been using Oreos this whole time.

Watermelon is a summertime must—but in cookie form? The fruity filling had mixed reviews when it launched in 2013, though we heard it was better received than the candy corn variety.

Root Beer Float

Transforming drinks and frozen desserts into sandwich cookies has been a popular trend for Oreo, so it only makes sense that the brand would create a mashup of the two. The half-root beer, half-vanilla creme filling initially gave us pause—who wants a cookie that tastes like soda?—but thankfully, the frosting doesn't overpower the cookie.

Caramel Apple

Oreos with a bright green and brown filling may not look all that appealing at first, but when you realize they're like eating a caramel apple cookie-crust pie, you'll be shoveling them into your mouth by the handful.

12

Key Lime Pie

As our news editor put it, the Key Lime Pie Oreo is like pure summer, sandwiched between two vanilla cookies. And they're a lot easier to eat on the go than the real thing.

Oreo released its lemon flavor with vanilla cookies and chocolate. We're not sure how we feel about the latter combination, though one reviewer admits, "These Oreo cookies have changed my mind about the mixing of [lemon and chocolate]." They even go as far as to say, "Is lemon and chocolate good? The answer is yes."

Limeade

Before there were Key Lime Pie Oreos, there were Limeade ones. This summer 2014 limited-edition treat was released alongside Fruit Punch Oreos, suggesting that someone in the R&D department was clearly on a fruity drink kick.

Red Velvet

The Internet collectively lost its mind when Red Velvet Oreos hit shelves in 2015, and it marked a surprising change for the brand: The chocolate cookies were red to match the cake, while most limited-edition flavors tend to be plain chocolate or vanilla. Cream cheese-flavored filling helped the treat stand out from Oreo's OG cookie.

Neapolitan

The story behind the Cherry Cola Oreo is a bit more straightforward: Oreo die-hards were presented with three fan-suggested finalists earlier this year and were asked to vote on their favorite flavor. Et voilà! We've now been graced with these. They taste like you bottled up your childhood summers and spread them across two chocolate cookie sandwiches.
