In just one day, the Greater Toronto Apartment Association collected 261,950 pounds of food for the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank, breaking the previous world record (also set in Canada) by more than 20,000 pounds. To put that in perspective for you, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Americans eat 18.7 pounds of food per week. So the city of collected enough food to heartily feed more than 14,000 of us for seven days. That's a heck of a lot of food.
