The chances of you ever being given the opportunity to cook a meal for the queen that is Martha Stewart are pretty slim, but should you ever be graced with her presence, there's one thing you need to know about her food eating habits: She despises truffle oil.
The co-host of Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party recently spoke to Today and was asked if there was any ingredient she would never cook with.
"Oh, I would never use truffle oil, oh never," she said.
"It's bad," Stewart continued. "They've done many studies on truffle oil. It's synthetic, it's fake, it's horrible. It clings to your tastebuds, it's a hideous thing. Forget truffle oil."
You heard what she said. FORGET TRUFFLE OIL! On top of the fact that truffles tend to give off a very strange aroma, lots of truffle oils that you can find in grocery stores in the U.S. aren't made with any actual truffles. Gordon Ramsay and some other MasterChef judges made that pretty clear when they also ranted about how disgusting truffle oil is on a Season 2 episode of the show that aired in 2011.
This of course isn't Martha Stewart's first time expressing her disdain for truffle oil. Back in 2014, she hosted a Reddit AMA where she told one commenter who asked of her opinion on the ingredient that it "doesn't belong in anyone's kitchen."
"I think truffle oil is one of the few ingredients that doesn't belong in anyone's kitchen. It is ruinous of most recipes," she wrote.
The queen has spoken. So if you currently have any truffle oil sitting up in your kitchen cabinet, now might be a good time for you to go ahead and get rid of it.
