Maybe it's her Southern roots or her contagious smile, but we're not surprised in the slightest to learn Reese Witherspoon is the ultimate host. The actress and producer recently sat down with My Domaine to talk about her home life, including how to entertain, and there's one piece of advice that instantly hit home with us.
"I like to offer people a drink when they come in and the WiFi code — because don't people want to know the WiFi code immediately?" she told My Domaine. Yes. We've all been in that position where we want to ask for it, but don't know how.
When it comes to guest bedrooms, these are Witherspoon's must-haves: amazing sheets, a really good mattress, and fresh white towels. She also says it's important to have products, because everyone always forgets their toothbrush, toothpaste, and shampoo and conditioner. "It's nice to already have it there so they don't even have to ask," she says.
As for dinner parties, she always makes sure to invite at least one person who's an excellent conversationalist or, as she puts it "someone who can talk to a brick wall for three hours." But when in doubt, she tries these fail-safe conversation starters: What was your first job, if you could move anywhere in the world where would you move to, and what is your secret escape plan if you had to leave your life immediately?
When Witherspoon isn't entertaining, she's all about comfort at home. The first thing she does when she gets home is change into a long-sleeve striped top and pants (her at-home uniform). She also makes time for herself, which includes a nightly bath where she gets to read for 30 minutes before making the rounds to all her children's rooms before bed. How quintessential does that sound?
