The Paqui One Chip Challenge has been making its rounds on the internet lately, as many brave souls make their attempts to see if they can survive eating a tortilla chip made with the hottest pepper in the world, the Carolina Reaper. Most videos of the challenge that have ended up on the internet so far end exactly how one would expect them to — with challengers instantly regretting their choices — and last week during a segment on Inside the NBA, Shaquille O'Neal proved that even he's no match for the spicy chip.
During the broadcast, O'Neal bet fellow analyst and NBA Hall of Fame-r Charles Barkley $20 that he'd be able to get through the challenge and not "make a face," seconds before biting into the insanely hot chip. But his plan to keep up a tough exterior and make taking the challenge look like a piece of cake didn't hold up for too long. Shaq tried as hard as he could to resist the pain at first, but he learned quickly that the scorching pain left behind by the Carolina Reaper is a bit too much to bear. He spent a second debating his co-hosts on whether or not coughing counts as making a face before his eyes began tearing up as he ran backstage, throwing off his jacket in the process.
So it's safe to say that, as hard as he tried, the NBA legend actually did make a face — several faces if we're being honest. Guess this means Chuck is about to be $20 richer, huh?
