The holidays are almost upon us, and with them comes brutal weather, annoying house guests and forced family time. If your definition of "tidings and good cheer" involves spiked eggnog, than these magical ornaments can help save Christmas.
Pickering's Gin launched a set of booze-filled baubles a few years ago, and the entire world has loved them so much the Scottish distillery can't keep up with demand. The plastic ornaments are currently sold out until early December. "They're so popular we're having to release them in stages so that production can keep up," general manager Dave Quinnell told The Scotsman.
According to Mashable, the company made 400 in 2015 and bumped up this year's production to more than 30,000 ornaments. In 2017, they're planning on 300,000 baubles. With 50 milliliters of liquor apiece, that's a whopping 507,210 shots of gin. Yeah, people really love gin.
While the most recent batch sold out in just two days, Pickering's has another lot on hold for this holiday season. The next round, however, is only available to their "Ginfriends" mailing list, so sign up for their email newsletter if you want a shot. A six-pack goes for £30, or about $37 for the American boozehounds.
Of course no one's going to stop you from filling your own plastic baubles with alcohol, but the DIY version forces a little-too-honest look at your holiday habits. Either way, keep the decorations away from pets and the under-21 crowd. As Pickering's warns, "Please drink and decorate sensibly."
Bottoms up!
