We're pretty plugged into Pinterest, we've gotta be to find gems like this creamy spaghetti, but even we were amazed when we saw these incredible Kawaii Cake rolls blowing up everywhere. Popular in Japan, these cake rolls are as adorable as they are sweet and fluffy. They may be the ultimate entertaining dessert: watch your friends' eyes widen as they ask you how on earth you put the dancing salsa girl onto a piece of cake.
You probably know them as Swiss Rolls, so they aren't exactly revolutionary in their taste and creation. The gorgeous patterns and decals now adorning the cakes are what these cakes almost too cute to eat. Almost.
They're popping up all over Pinterest, and they take a little practice to create, but these cake rolls are totally worth it. So, how do you make them exactly?
According to Aww, Sam, the easiest method involves piping your design onto parchment paper and freezing it before transferring it onto the cake. Sounds remarkably similar to the way we taught you to put any face on a cake. So while it takes a little more effort than your run-of-the-mill box cake, we can't argue that the results aren't worth it.
