When Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot on April 29, 2011, more than 1,900 people witnessed the nuptials inside Westminster Abbey, but only 300 of the royal couple's closest family and friends were invited to the private party afterward.
Now one of those guests is parting ways with his or her copy of the dinner menu from the evening, with a little help from Nate D. Sanders Fine Autographs & Memorabilia. The stained 5" x 7" card, bordered by a regal floral trim and bearing Prince Charles' badge of three white ostrich feathers emerging from a gold crown, is up for auction online. The minimum bid? $1,000 USD, or roughly £650.
Some of the evening's gastronomic highlights included marinated South Uist salmon, organic lamb with a Windsor sauce, and Berkshire honey ice cream with a chocolate parfait. Each course was paired with a wine selection, such as the (surprisingly reasonably priced) L'hospitalet de Gazin Pomerol 2004, which ranges from $20 to $37 a bottle.
The menu's catalog description says it has a "small stain towards bottom, [but is] otherwise in near fine condition."
One has to wonder what a mint-condition menu might fetch at market.
