Pitch Perfect Burrito

Road rage is a serious threat to safety on the streets, and its latest casualty? A poor, undeserving, Taco Bell burrito.

The incident went down on Monday night around 9 pm between Lake County (FL) sheriff's detention deputy, Thomas Jones Thompson, and Taco Bell consumer, Charles Christopher, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Christopher told police that Deputy Thompson pulled up beside him and his wife, Sarah Newcomb, after they'd just left the Taco Bell. Christopher said the deputy accused them of running two stop signs, then pulled out a gun when the couple refused to pull over. Though Thompson showed a badge, he wasn't driving a cop car. Instead, he pursued the couple in a four-door Chevy equipped with a siren "that sounded like a child's toy," according to Newcomb, plus front and rear emergency lights – none of which was issued by the Sheriff's Office.

According to the arrest affidavit, Christopher admitted he shouted a few choice words, but said Thompson continued to follow the couple, swerving into their vehicle and threatening to shoot. All this is clearly grounds for anger, but this is when Christopher got burrito-hurling mad.

The deputy's account says Christopher and Newcomb were driving erratically, running multiple stop signs, jamming breaks, and throwing "objects" at his vehicle including a recently purchased Taco Bell burrito. The melty meal was laid to rest in the middle of the road way before its time.

Unfortunately, we don't know what kind of burrito. Sure, the Bean Burrito goes for $1.09, but the XXL Grilled Stuft Steak Burrito will put you out $4.99—that's almost five dollars. Sigh, money, calories, cheesy goodness–all wasted.

Thompson's food crime wasn't included in his list of offenses. Instead, he was arrested (and placed on suspension pending an investigation) on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and improper exhibition of a firearm.

No word on whether or not the burrito was loaded.
