The bottle of ranch dressing in your fridge might be an impostor. In a recent recall, Wish Bone has admitted to making a serious mistake when it comes to America's favorite salad dressing flavor—by filling ranch dressing bottles with blue cheese dressing.
Yes, you read that right: Ranch is recalled because it's actually blue cheese.
It's one of the most hilarious recalls we've seen and, at first, this mistake doesn't seem to warrant a full-fledged recall but rather a "whoops, sorry about that!" declaration. That is until you realize that the brand's blue cheese dressing contains egg, an allergen not marked on the label when it's hidden inside a ranch bottle (the ranch does not contain egg). According to a recent release, the 24-ounce bottles affected by this oops are labeled with UPC code 0-41321000661-6 and the "best by" date February 17, 2016.
This really sucks for stinky cheese haters but I'm not complaining. I love blue cheese and rarely buy ranch despite its surprising and versatile uses. Plus, how can we blame blue cheese for masquerading as ranch? It just wants to be loved as much as its mild-flavored cousin.
