At Delish, we're all about made-up holidays if they mean free food. (Remember Krispy Kreme's "Superhero Day?") Naturally, we were stoked to hear that Taco Bell has declared June 6 as National Graduation Day and they're celebrating with tacos gratis, yo. High school graduates can score a free Doritos Locos Taco (looks like they know their customers, huh?) from any of Taco Bell's 6,000 locations. Students just need to show their high school ID and the National Graduation Day Ad Taco Bell shared via Facebook and Twitter.
Just in case a taco shell made out of Doritos isn't enough motivation to earn that diploma, Taco Bell is also giving away fame and fortune. The Taco Bell Foundation's #RecognizePotential campaign is its first and largest-ever marketing strategy aimed at teenagers. We can thank #RecognizePotential for the complimentary tacos and, on June 10, the promotional push culminates with the unveiling of a virtual yearbook on the billboards of Times Square. More than 600 students who shared their stories of "reaching potential" online using the campaign hashtag will be featured, and of those teens, 60 will actually be invited to NYC to hang out with Taco Bell CEO Brian Niccol and some "surprise celebrity guests." (We're hoping Kim K makes an appearance.)
Additionally, Taco Bell will award $1,000 in educational scholarships to each of the 250 of the virtual yearbook participants. You can read the deets at Recognize-Potential.org.
Thanks, Taco Bell, for making us wish we were back in high school with an 18-year-old's metabolism and the world as our oyster taco.
